Kind has created a new identity and visual profile for the iconic sailing ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl - several times world champion in Tall Ships' Races and a floating Norwegian treasure.

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is a floating ambassador for both Bergen and Norway. The sight of this magnificent steel barque moored in Bergen harbour is beloved of both proud locals and the myriad tourists that flock to Norway's second-largest city.

The ship has a rich history. It was built in Germany and used as a training vessel from 1914. Her original name was Grossherzog Friedrich August. Later, the English would take her as a spoil of war before being purchased by Norway in 1921. It was then used for training from 1923. Germany confiscated the ship in the Second World War until but, following the end of hostilities, the Statsraad Lehmkuhl became a training vessel for the Bergen School Ship Foundation.

Today, the ship still leads an is extremely active life. She has visited the USA on several occasions, plus been used by both the German and Norwegian Navies as a school training vessel.

World Champion
The Statsraad Lehmkuhl has triumphed on several occasions in the world renowned Tall Ships' Races. Today, it is Norway's largest and oldest square-rigged sailing ship, and among the oldest of its type in the world.

Kind was charged with creating a modern-yet-timeless visual identity for the vessel, which honours its rich past and heritage while looking forward to the future. The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is very much active today, with a host of exciting voyages on offer for adventurous souls who yearn to experience life onboard, plus it has become a popular venue for organised functions.

'Pleasure'
Tom Emil Olsen, CEO, Creative Director and Founder of Kind, said: 'It has been a pleasure to work on such a project - the Statsraad Lehmkuhl's iconic status in Norway and particularly Bergen is beyond doubt. It is such a valuable resource for the people of the city and beyond. I am confident that the visual identity and branding we created will help cement her position even further in people's hearts and minds on both a national and an international level.'
