Branding the brewery at the edge of the world

Northern Co. brewery lies on an isolated island in one of the westernmost places in Norway. With the North Sea as its nearest neighbour, Kind has taken this stunning, windswept location as our inspiration.

Northern Co. is proud to be bringing the tradition of craft beer to a place which already has such an interesting and unique history - Fedje, an island municipality not too far from Bergen, Norway. 

Glorious
The brewery believes that the combination of glorious, proud brewing traditions and the history of the island itself, helps to create truly inspired beer. Brewing that focuses on the inherent importance of the craft relies on the highest quality of the four main ingredients: malt, hops, water and yeast. Each ingredient brings its own important, individual quality, such as colour and sweetness. 

Proud
Northern Co. is located on picturesque Fedje which is home to just under 600 inhabitants. Fedje is a proud municipality consisting of 125 small islands surrounding the larger main island. The name Fedje comes from the old Norse word ‘Feðjar’, which is closely related to the gothic word ‘faþa’, meaning ‘fence’ or ‘wall’. 

The significance of this name is the effect that the collection of the islands - that loosely separate the mainland and the inshore waters, known as the Fedjefjorden - have on the Norwegian Sea.
