Shipping and offshore giant Framo selects Kind

The leading manufacturer of submerged pumps for global shipping and offshore markets, Framo (formerly Frank Mohn AS), has choosen Kind as its new branding agency.

When we were going to select a new agency, the choice was pretty simple. Kind has really impressed us. The agency has a global presence and its work has an international feel to it. Kind takes an innovative and process-driven approach to brand-building, and it has an impressive creative portfolio and a strong client portfolio that we are looking forward to becoming part of.

Kind has now been given the job of managing the brand of this international giant.

'When we were going to select a new agency, the choice was pretty simple. Kind has really impressed us. The agency has a global presence and its work has an international feel to it. Kind takes an innovative and process-driven approach to brand-building, and it has an impressive creative portfolio and a strong client portfolio that we are looking forward to becoming part of,' said Geir Christian Helgesen, Group Marketing Manager at Framo.

Tom Emil Olsen, CEO/Creative Director of Kind, said: 'Framo is a company with rich traditions that has long been market leader in its segment. We are delighted to have been chosen as Framo's future partner, and we are looking forward to working on further developing what is already a very strong brand. I believe that our philosophy of conceptual brand building and our focus on the emotional aspect of a brand will help to further the company's position in the market even more.'

Framo, which is based in Bergen, Norway, is the parent company of Frank Mohn AS worldwide. From its beginnings in 1938, the company has grown into a worldwide organisation with subsidiaries in three continents.

Framo`s international operations began with the introduction of high pressure, hydraulic pumps in the early 1960s. Framo was then among the first to use hydraulics to drive marine pumps.

During the 1960s, the chemical market expanded and shipping methods changed from handling liquid chemicals in drums to bulk. In close cooperation with ship operators, Framo introduced the concept of one fixed installed submerged pump for each cargo tank. This was the start of what in the 1970s became the company`s main product, a total cargo handling system for all kinds of tankers.

The growing offshore market for high technology equipment made Framo enter this field during the 1970s. By adopting the latest marine thinking on offshore applications, the company has contributed to successful oilfield developments in the harsh and severe environment of the North Sea.

Today, Framo has 1,200 employees and is a leading manufacturer of submerged pumping systems for the shipping and offshore industry.
